• THE RESEARCH Traditional herbalists prize dandelion as a gentle remedy for heartburn and other digestive complaints. Its roots are abundant in simple sugars that may encourage the growth of "good" bacteria thought to keep your gut healthy. A Czech study found that dandelion-root tea stimulated 14 different strains of bacteria known to inhibit the growth of bugs linked to diarrhea.
• SHOULD I TAKE IT? Skip supplements-studies are limited. Experts can't agree on a dosage, and products are made from parts of the plant that may be less effective.
