Schizophrenia and Orthomolecular Treatment
I am a 33 year old woman living in Milpitas California.I had a psychotic attack in September 2010. The onset was acute and the recovery was rather fast. I still have auditory hallucinations though and would like to try Orthomolecular therapy. I am not on any anti psychotic drugs and don't want to be on them.I appreciate your response in this matter. I know what your talking about. I've had similar experiences, ironically almost at the same time as you did.
I 'm not a doctor, but right now I am trying 6 grams of niacin (rapid release) each day with 3 - 4 grams of vitamin C. So far so good and no side effects.
From what I read, niacin plays a role in transmethylation processes and keeps neurotoxins from forming in the body/brain from adrenalin, which are thought to induce psychosis.
