Abstract:The article presents questions and answers related to heart diseases. The two questions answered in the article are whether it is possible to lower high blood cholesterol levels with lifestyle changes alone and whether it is worth considering "expanded" cholesterol testing such as the Vertical Auto Profile and Berkeley. According to the author, goal for standard lipids varies according to one's own risk of developing cardiovascular disease. For example, people with coronary disease and those with diabetes are at the highest risk for heart disease and should be treated most aggressively to reduce their cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
