Abstract:The article reports on the association of depression to the intake of omega-3 fatty acids. Depression is a state wherein a person experiences hopelessness and feels no happiness. Psychiatric researchers found out that depression is often caused by the lack of the neurotransmitter serotonin. High-dose fish oils that contain long-chain omega-3 fatty acids increases serotonin levels that is needed to improve depression. Also, increased intake of fish oils causes the reduction of arachidonic acid.
